REGISTRATION POLICIES
Registration Deadlines:
2026 Spring registration will close on December 1st, 2025 at 11:59pm.
2025 Fall Ball registration will close on August 31st, 2025 at 11:59pm.
Any registration requests after the close date, if approved, will be subject to a late fee.

Late Fees: Late registrations automatically incur a $50 late fee. Late registrations severely impact our ability to project the number of teams, fields and coaches we need for a season, and impact our team selection process. Late registrations will be considered only on a space-available basis, and only if registration and late fees are paid in full.

Refunds and Cancellations: Requests for both baseball and softball must occur within 5 days from the registration deadline. The amount refunded will equal the registration fee paid, less a $30 refund processing fee. After that cutoff date, PBSF will not issue refunds for the season unless there are extenuating circumstances. Please contact your division commissioner to cancel a registration or to request a refund due such circumstances.
Fall Ball : Due to field space limitations, we are not able to offer Fall Ball for our 6U Softball / Shetland Baseball (TK-1st grade) leagues.
Softball: PBSF is a USA/ASA affiliated fastpitch softball program. We partner with the Oakland Girls Softball League (OGSL) for league play in all 8u, 10u, and 12u-14u divisions.
Note that we initially slot kids in to leagues based on grade, but certain age restrictions may also apply and require a kid to be moved into a different league. The current age cut-off is August 31, thus, the players age on August 31, determines the age group for the following year. Players are generally not allowed to play in a division other than their USA/ASA age division, unless there are compelling reasons to make a change.

-
Play-up and play-down requests will only be considered for exceptional cases and only after all age-eligible players have been assigned and if space is available.
-
Playing up or down one season does not automatically ensure that future play-up requests will be granted and will be subject to subsequent reviews on an annual basis.
-
Division commissioners must approve all play-up/down requests.
-
For 8U, 10U, 12U/14U levels, there is a player evaluation prior to the season start to assess each player's skill level and help to form evenly-balanced teams. This is not a try-out. ALL players will be placed on a team.

Baseball: PBSF is a PONY affiliated program. Division age levels are assigned based on grade level in California public schools (age cutoff Sep 1st) and adhered to in most cases; however, PBSF intends to place every interested player on a team where some level of personal success is within reach. When appropriate, the League will advocate for a player’s better placement. The Commissioner will work with the parents in these situations to discuss options.

Player Commitment: PBSF is committed to providing a quality baseball experience for all interested players. Players are expected to attend all practices and games, with the understanding that occasionally, acceptable conflicts do occur.

If your child plays other sports during the spring baseball/softball season, players are expected to give top priority to baseball/softball. You or your player should notify coaches as far in advance as possible in the advent of absences. Frequent absences/tardiness may affect playing time during games.

Code of Conduct: Parents, coaches and players are expected to follow the PBSF Code of Conduct.

Loaned Jersey Replacement Fees: All Fall Ball baseball jerseys and most Spring season baseball jerseys and upper division softball jerseys are loaned to players for the season.
A jersey replacement fee of $75 will be charged for any loaned jersey that is not returned immediately after the end of the season.
